Ponder Point: To Infinity and Beyond—Can't you hear Buzz Light year saying that as he stands ready for blast off?
It's a tremendous thought to Venture into the Unknown, where few tread and all who go are awestruck with wonder.
We have that kind of Journey in Christ. What's amazing is that God is infinite, unfathomable, and unsearchable! Not that we can't know him, but we can't know ALL of him! His word, character, attributes, knowledge, wisdom, love, and compassion are living, eternal, and beyond our Knowing fully. And yet He is simultaneously personal and intimately acquainted with us.
Psalm 147:5 - “Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” Isaiah 40:28 - “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.”
I say all this simply because I had a wonderful conversation with a new believer this week. One of the regrets she expressed, which many new believers expressed, is this: "I've wasted so much time." Another thought often directed at me is a desire to know what I know and a sense that they can't catch up. Granted, I've been a born-again believer since '74 and have ministered in different capacities since 1990, so I know a lot, experientially, spiritually, and scripturally...
But hear me loud and clear: Though someone may know more about God than you, they still have as much to learn. How can that be?
Because GOD IS ETERNAL, there is no end to our learning about Him. Whether you are Billy Graham or a newly saved person, we all have an equal amount to learn about GOD! Realizing this was a huge relief for me. It didn't make me complacent or stop growing in my faith; it gave me more reason to strive for Him. Because even in comparison to the most celebrated Christians, we all have as much to learn about God.
So, if you ever feel insignificant in comparison, remember, as long as you are moving towards God, you are on the right track - Forward motion is Key. Don't allow yourself to stagnate, keep moving forward in your knowledge, wisdom, and experience with God through prayer, reading, studying, serving, and submitting to Him.
